A smiling young girl in round tortoise glasses makes a peace sign outdoors
44□16-130 is a typical first frame for a seven-year-old.

Myopia starts young here. So do our checks.

In Singapore, more than half of children are short-sighted by the end of primary school. Short-sightedness tends to increase while children grow, so we watch it closely and early.

  • A check every six months. We record your child's prescription at every visit and show you the trend on one simple chart.
  • Myopia-management lenses. They help slow myopia progression in many children. Whether they suit your child is our optometrist's call, never a sales pitch.
  • Frames built for school. TR90 that bends back instead of snapping, soft low-bridge pads and a free spare screw kit.
  • Habits that help. More time outdoors and regular breaks from near work. We'll give you a short list to stick on the fridge.

No lens cures myopia, and results differ from child to child. Ask us anything; there is no charge for a chat.

Read the numbers on your frames

Inside one arm of most glasses is a line like 50□19-145. It is the frame's size in millimetres, and the quickest way to find a new pair that fits like the old one.

Your current frame

Lens width matters most: within 2 mm usually feels the same. The bridge decides how high the frame sits on your nose.

Bring your current glasses in and we will match the size for you.

What people say about the fit

4.8average from 312 Google reviews.
Reviews on this page are examples.

  • “My glasses used to slide down every time I looked at my phone on the MRT. The Seng Poh sits where it should, even after a walk in the midday heat.”

Wei Ling T.Seng Poh 49, tortoise

  • “Our son's prescription went up twice in one year. Now he has a check every six months and we get a clear chart of his numbers, so we finally understand what is happening.”

    Farhan R.Parent · Pip 44 Kids

  • “First progressives at 47. They walked me through it slowly, re-checked the fitting height twice and never pushed the most expensive lens.”

    Mark L.Everton Browline

Named after the two parts that decide the fit

The bridge sits on your nose. The temples hold on behind your ears. Get those two right and glasses disappear, which is the whole point.

Bridge & Temple opened on Eng Hoon Street in 2012 as a small neighbourhood optician: one test room, one workshop, one long mirror. We still edge most lenses on site, and we still remember which customers like their arms a little tighter.

Good questions, short answers

Something else? Message us and the optometrist will reply, usually the same day.

How much is an eye check at Bridge & Temple?

A comprehensive eye check by our registered optometrist costs S$45 and takes 30 to 40 minutes. The fee is waived when you order a complete pair of glasses the same day. Children's eye checks are S$35. All prices include GST, and you can book ahead or walk in when the test room is free.

Do you have frames for a low nose bridge?

Yes. Most of our house frames come in a low-bridge fit: the bridge sits deeper and the pads are taller, so the frame rests on your nose instead of your cheeks. Our metal frames have adjustable nose pads. The finder at the top filters for this when you say your glasses slide down.

Can myopia-management lenses stop my child's myopia?

No lens can stop or cure myopia. Myopia-management lenses help slow its progression in many children, alongside more time outdoors. Our optometrist checks your child every six months, records the trend and tells you honestly whether these lenses suit your child. They start from S$620 a pair.

How long do new glasses take?

Single-vision lenses are usually ready in 1 to 3 working days because we edge them in our own workshop. Progressive, high-index and myopia-management lenses take 7 to 10 working days. We message you when they are ready and fit the frame to your face when you collect.

What do the numbers on my glasses mean?

A marking like 50□19-145 gives three sizes in millimetres: lens width 50, bridge width 19 and temple arm length 145. Lens width is the quickest guide to overall frame size. Use the size check on this page to see which of our frames are closest to your current pair.

Can I use CHAS or MediSave for glasses?

No. CHAS subsidies and MediSave cannot be used for spectacles, contact lenses or eye checks at an optical shop like ours. Our prices already include 9% GST, so the price on the tag is what you pay. We accept PayNow, NETS, cash and major credit cards.
