Can you lay a new floor over my existing tiles?
Yes, in most HDB flats and condos. SPC vinyl, laminate and engineered oak click together on an underlay over sound tiles, so nothing is hacked. We tap-test for hollow or cracked tiles first and trim the doors for the 6 to 7 mm rise. A 4-room flat usually takes one to two days.
Do I need an HDB permit to change my flooring?
Not for vinyl laid over existing tiles. Hacking or removing floor tiles needs an HDB permit and an HDB-registered contractor, and on a new flat tiles generally can't be changed in the first three years. The new finish plus screed must stay within 50 mm. We apply for the permit when a job needs one.
Is SPC vinyl flooring waterproof?
The SPC core is waterproof, so spills, mopping and a wet dog won't swell it, and it is fine in kitchens. We don't lay it in bathrooms or open balconies, where water pools and drains: those get matt porcelain tiles or decking. The click joints resist splashes, not standing water.
How long does flooring take for a 4-room HDB flat?
One to two days for SPC or laminate over existing tiles, three days for engineered oak or herringbone, and four to five days for tiles or glued timber. We work within HDB renovation hours, 9am to 6pm from Monday to Saturday, and keep noisy works to weekdays.
Which floor is best if we have pets?
SPC vinyl or porcelain tile. Both have hard surfaces that resist claws and cope with accidents and water bowls. Engineered oak and teak will scratch; some owners like the patina, most don't. Choose a matt finish: it hides fine scratches and gives paws better grip on the turns.
What does your price per sq ft include?
Supply, underlay, laying, skirting, door trims, moving furniture within each room and clearing offcuts. Hacking, screeding and parquet removal are separate lines in the quote. All our prices are before 9% GST, and GST is shown on its own line, so the number you compare is the number you pay.
